The Leading Vote-Getter for the NHL All-Star Game Has Been Placed on Waivers

#VoteScott.

The John Scott saga has taken another turn.

The Arizona Coyotes enforcer—the leader in fan voting for the NHL All-Star Game—has been placed on waivers. The guy with the most votes for an event where the league is supposed to be showcasing its star players could soon be playing in the AHL. Scott, of course, isn't a star player, but this situation is getting more awkward by the second.

Scott's unlikely rise to the top of the voting leaderboard has created plenty of discussion. Should a player who has played in nine games this season and accumulated one point be skating alongside the Patrick Kanes, Alex Ovechkins and Jamie Benns of the world? On merit, the answer is no. But this game has long been a gimmick, and turning the event into a 3-on-3 tournament only solidifies that.

Let the fans have their say.

Scott has been having fun through it all. He posted the below photo, surrounded by a couple cold ones, to Instagram on Thursday with the following caption:

Getting ready for the all star game. I always have to stay sharp, never a day off. #ASG2016
