When most of us go to the aquarium, we come back with some blurry Instagram shots of sea creatures and maybe a bit of hazy knowledge about the mysterious lives of our marine brethren. When Nathaniel Whitcomb came back from the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, he used the footage from his iPhone to make an experimental aquatic film, The Birth of Medusa, layered over with some ambient music by RxRy. The end result is a nice little piece about movement and biology and myth and stuff.

The short film is quite mesmerizing and seems to herald a long overdue experimental and artistic direction for mobile phone filmmaking.
