The Male Chef's Night Before Christmas
We wanted to know what Male Chef, food-bloggers' worst nightmare, cooks up on Christmas Eve. Here are some of the most disturbing holiday food photos, including a sauerkraut snowman, five-alarm eight reindeer chili, and a vodka snow globe. Don't blow...
We first met Male Chef, the fictional photo-based persona from photographer, Chris Maggio, when we interviewed him about his blog that's filled with horrifying food porn. A self-proclaimed outsider to the food world, the Male Chef character is a response to the “democratization” of food media on the internet. Since the holidays are pretty much here, we wanted to learn about what's on the Male Chef menu on the night before consumerism is celebrated in full effect. Here is the Male Chef's Christmas Eve feast, with more than enough alarming food photos to give you long-term winter nightmares.
Christmas Eve has always been an extraordinary night at the Male Chef house. It's the one occasion when all of the men are allowed to stay up past their usual bedtimes in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the big man, the jolly fat guy, the toy boy himself: Santa Claus. But for those in the house who still believe in Kris Kringle, getting a peak of St. Nicholas has always proved to be quite the challenge. Exhausted from preparing the annual holiday feast, the men are often too sleepy to shake hands with their holiday hero.
The tree has been trimmed, the hamster water bottle is filled up with milk, and the dog bowl full of cookies is ready for the man in red. The Cheeto wreath has been hung on the door with care. Here are a few photos that capture our magical night during this merry season.
From all of us here at Male Chef, here's to wishing you the happiest of holidays.
