Jared Leto Is Going to Play Andy Warhol in a New Biopic

The actor plans to play the lauded pop artist in the upcoming film 'Warhol,' which he's also helping to produce.

Jared Leto and producer Michael De Luca have secured the rights to Warhol, a biography about the 60s pop artist, and the two are planning to bring the story to the big screen with Leto at the helm, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

A few big names have attempted to portray Warhol throughout the years—from David Bowie in Basquiat to Bill Hader in Men in Black 3—and it will be interesting to see Leto don the blond wig in his take on the ambitious role.

Leto recently prepared for his role as the Joker in the recent box office flop Suicide Squad by reportedly pranking the cast and crew with live rodents and used condoms, so his upcoming co-stars will probably have a lot of tin foil and sitting for screen tests to look forward to.

In any case, the film is in good hands with De Luca, who has brought the stories of Mark Zuckerberg and Captain Richard Phillips to the big screen. Writer Terence Winter, of Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, and Wolf of Wall Street fame, is also onboard to whip up the film's script, which will be based loosely off of Victor Bockris's 1989 book, Warhol: The Biography.
