Donald Trump Fat-Shamed a Former Miss Universe, Again

"She was the worst we ever had, the worst, the absolute worst... she gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem."

During the last 15 minutes of Monday's presidential debate, Hillary Clinton made sure to remind viewers of the many horrendous and reviled things Donald Trump has said to and about women by bringing up 1996 Venezuelan Miss Universe winner Alicia Machado.

"He called this woman 'Miss Piggy.' Then he called her 'Miss Housekeeping' because she was Latina," Clinton said. "Donald—she has a name. Her name is Alicia Machado and she has become a US citizen, and you can bet she's going to vote this November."

Even though Trump seemed to deny the claim right away, he had no trouble remembering Machado in an interview with Fox & Friends the following Tuesday morning.

"I know that person. That person was a Miss Universe person," the Republican nominee said. "And she was the worst we ever had. The worst, the absolute worst. She was impossible. She gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem. We had a real problem. Not only that, her attitude."

It's still unclear if Trump actually knows Alicia Machado's name, but a video posted by Clinton's camp following the debate shows footage of Trump telling reporters equally disparaging things about the Miss Universe winner—who's said she's struggled with long-term eating disorders.

"She weighed 118 pounds, or 117 pounds, and she went up to 160 or 170," Trump says. "So this is somebody who likes to eat."

Trump is currently polling at 44.5 percent according FiveThirtyEight's latest numbers.
