Jay Electronica Releases "Letter to Falon" From His Long-Awaited Debut Album

It seems the only way we're going to hear 'Act II: Patents of Nobility' is through a piecemeal release strategy.

It's been a good few months (millennia?!) since we heard from Jay Electronica, but by the glory of whatever benevolent presence you believe in, we're well and truly blessed with a new song from the New Orleans rapper and producer today – his first after an appearance on Emeli Sandé's "Garden" back in October. "Letter to Falon" is a steady build of a track, and comes following news that Jay will be teaming up with MF Doom for new music courtesy of Adult Swim, so with any luck, it seems like this is just the beginning of what will be a string of new releases. Then again, we all remember the heady summer of 2014 when he released his Jay-Z featuring remix of "We Made It" and "Better In Tune With The Infinite", only to slide back into the ether.

The track was announced via Twitter, as Jay tweeted at Kevin Durant, who he says had told him to release new music, and referring to the basketball player's performance in the NBA Finals:

"Letter to Falon" also features The Bullitts and is taken from the rapper's long-awaited album ACT II: Patents of Nobility. Alongside this new release we've so far heard six other songs from the tracklist – "Life on Mars (Feat Erykah Badu"), "Shiny Suit Theory", "Road to Perdition", "Patents of Nobility", "Run and Hide" and the aforementioned "Better In Tune With The Infinite". Maybe in another ten years we'll have the complete album, eh? Listen below via TIDAL, and feel a deep wave of calm wash over you:
