Pharma douche Martin Shkreli hasn't released any threatening videos directed toward Ghostface Killah lately, but apparently the universe isn't ready to let him disappear into the shadows of Brooklyn's federal court and his poorly furnished Midtown apartment just yet.
A pair of writers in New York are about to put on a "musical caper comedy" about Shkreli, and since they don't own any antimalarial medications, they can jack up the prices of, they've turned to IndieGoGo to help foot the bill and off-set some production costs.
The play's plot revolves around Shkreli's $2 million purchase of the Wu Tang Clan's last album, and the (quickly disproven) rumor that the ownership contract included a small stipulation that RZA and GZA and the rest of the group could attempt to steal the record back from Shkreli with some help from longtime Wu-pal Bill Murray.
That idea, though false, sparked something in Lauren Gundrum and Joel Esher, who wound up writing a musical based on it called Martin Shkreli's Game: How Bill Murray Joined the Wu-Tang Clan. The play features a song called "I'm Martin Fucking Shkreli and You Can All Go Fuck Yourselves," and will premiere on July 19 at the Midtown International Film Festival, according to the New York Post. That is unless someone (looking at you, Marty) opts for the $2 million "Shkreli Special" pay tier, which would see the two playwrights scrap the whole endeavor altogether.
If the video above is any indication, "I'm Martin Fucking Shkreli" and the other songs in Shkreli's Game will be pretty straight-ahead musical theater tracks. But hopefully at least one of them will skew pop punk, in Martin's honor.
