My Nu Leng Cherry-Pick the Best of Today's UK Bass on Latest Mix

The Bristol duo is finishing up their latest EP.

My Nu Leng have established themselves as one of the most exciting names in UK bass. The Bristol duo—whose name comes from the slang term for "gun" in the hood—have a knack for warping together garage, grime, and dubstep elements into robust club tracks with just the right amount of grit. This Friday, their label Black Butter Records is joining forces with Matte Projects to bring the party to New York; specifically, to an opulent party hall whose 65-foot ceilings, Corinthian columns, and Venetian glass skylight will be quivering under the bass weight. The night will be headlined by The Gaslamp Killer in the main room, with additional sets by Black Butter label stalwarts Kidnap Kid and Wayward. It's been a hot minute since we've talked to the duo, so we checked in ahead of the show.

Turns out Tommy and Jammo are busy finishing up their next release. "We have been working on about five new tracks which should be getting released within the next few months," My Nu Leng tells THUMP. "It's a really varied collection of music. We have a few dance floor tracks alongside some deeper moments, and have worked with some really talented vocalists and producers too."

As for this mix, the duo says it's "a collection of tracks we are really feeling at the moment. It goes through all the different styles of UK dance music we are vibing off and has a few new bits from friends of ours in there too." Stay tuned for the tracklist, and New York cats can get your tickets to Friday's party here.
