Steven Gerrard Curls Free Kick Past Tim Howard, Everton Equalize At Last Minute

The Merseyside derby featured two great goals.

The Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard had just enough pace on this free kick attempt in the 65th minute to curl it past the Everton keeper, Tim Howard. Mario Balotelli won the free kick off Leighton Baines from about 25 yards out and even though he wanted it for himself, it went to Gerrard, who's come under fire of late for ineffective play. The strike gave Liverpool a 1-0 lead in Anfield and it was Gerrard's tenth Merseyside derby goal.

In the 90th minute, Everton equalized with an absolutely scorched goal from their captain, Phil Jagielka. Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet never had a chance on this one.

Here's another view because it was just that nasty.
