Watch a Beautiful Puddle of Meringue-Like Paint Fold into Itself

Smooth as (pigmented) buttah.

Candidly titled Bubble Blobs / Paint Mixing, a short video takes viewers through the artful process of watching one paint blob mix with another paint blob, turning the process into an entirely newly-hued and succulent paint blob. The process of preping paint urns into  a visual wonder, itself.

Playfulness aside, the blissful and churning of one thickly textured paint into the next is a salve for an overworked or anxiety-ridden mind. The video, created by Annette Labedzki and put out by It’s Colossal, is a behind-the-scenes look at what the artist’s process can look like prior to applying brush to canvas. Labedzki has a knack for tricking the viewer’s eye to think the entire mixing occurs like magic—nary a single human hand, and rarely revealing the artist’s tool. At times, the image of the paint blob appears like a human face, contorting with emotion.
