Xherdan Shaqiri Floats a Gorgeous Goal over Tim Howard's Head

Xherdan Shaqiri scored twice for Stoke and his second goal was delightful.

Xherdan Shaqiri gave Stoke City a brief 2-1 lead over Everton today at Goodison Park on this fantastic goal he chipped in over Tim Howard's sad, sad head. It was Shaqiri's second goal of the game and came just before the end of the first half. Bojan Krkić sent the ball in to Shaqiri from midfield and the Swiss outpaced the Everton defense to track it down before simply clipping the ball off the half-volley. The ball looped over Howard, who could do nothing but hope it sailed over the cross bar as he watched it go over his head. Instead, it dipped just under the bar for Shaqiri's second Premier League goal.

Stoke went on to win, somewhat controversially, when Marko Arnautović scored on a penalty in extra time. Arnautović drew a foul on John Stones, who challenged for the ball as Arnautović approached the six-yard box. Stones may have gotten to the ball, but Arnautović went down and Stones was shown a yellow card. Arnautović went on to blast the penalty right down the middle, even as he lost his footing, for the game-winner.
