Trump Supporters Are Now Setting Their MAGA Hats on Fire

Members of Trump's base have taken to Twitter after he announced plans for a DACA deal with Democrats, setting their MAGA hats aflame and calling him #AmnestyDon.

On Thursday, hours before Trump announced he was "working on a plan for DACA" with Democrats that did not include building an expensive wall along America's southern border, the president tweeted about the thousands of people currently protected under the program his administration moved to eliminate.

"[DREAMERs] have been in our country for many years through no fault of their own—brought in by parents at young age," Trump tweeted. "Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated, and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military?"

Turns out that, well, yes—many members of Trump's base do, and a horde of pissed-off, hard-right conservatives hopped on Twitter to say so by burning their MAGA hats in protest, Breitbart reports. Like this hardcore Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, for example:

Or this guy, who—like a lot of other conservatives in disbelief over Trump's apparent flip-flop on DREAMers—took to calling the president "Amnesty Don."

A bunch of other folks hopped on the bandwagon, using hashtags like #burnmyMAGAhat and #NoAmnesty, after setting their cranial beacons of Trumpdom aflame with everything from matches to butane torches. By Friday morning, #burnmyMAGAhat had snowballed into a movement.

The president might be bummed to see he's losing support among his base, but his work with the Democrats seems to be earning him some new friends in Washington and, apparently, some "incredible" press.
