Social Media Dos and Donts with Trixie and Bob the Drag Queen

The two kick off the episode discussing arguably both the best and worst part of the internet: online dating. While the thought of swiping through more hopeless dudes only to settle for someone who sent you a gif of a waving telly-tubby as an opener might make you shiver in repulsion, Bob reminds us that dating apps have provided us with an extremely efficient way to find someone willing to satisfy our needs. “Grindr has made me like: Get. To. The. Point,” she says. And we get it—who has time to let someone down easy when thousands of potential lovers are just a thumb’s swipe away?

If you’re someone who prefers to stay off social media, then according to Trixie and Bob, people will probably assume you’re a serial killer. That is, if they even give you the time of day. As Bob bluntly put it, “What’s wrong with you? What are you hiding? You’re shady.” And if you do have a social presence, but your profile picture either doesn’t exist or is of you as a baby, the queens advise you fix your habits immediately or quit while you can.

Trixie and Bob also delve into weird internet acronyms. They may have the basics down, but even they aren’t up-to-date on how the kids are texting these days. Ever heard of “dae?” Neither have they.

And what would an internet deep dive in this day and age be without a look at our Cheeto-in-Chief’s Twitter? Trixie and Bob play a little game called Troll or Trump? where they read tweets and guess which of the two penned them. Who knew Trump was so invested in Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s post-Twilight relationship? The internet is a wonderful place to observe very normal president behavior.
