Get Up Close and Personal with Sacrifice in 'MANDAGON'

Give yourself a break today with this free, heartwarming 2D platformer.

It came out in August, 2016, but if you haven't played it, BEWARE! Story spoilers for MANDAGON inbound!

Browsing the free games on Steam is always fun. You've got clickers, random multiplayer battle games, porn games and more, but one game popped up in my recommends that I hadn't seen or heard of before. 2D pixel-platformer MANDAGON caught my eye. Free and only 30-60 minutes long, I jumped right in.

Picture yourself, but as a very small totem. OK, now imagine you're not only a totem, but a totem with a mission. There's someone you need to save, and in order to do that, you need to make a sacrifice. You're ready and willing to make that sacrifice though, because the person who needs saving is your daughter.

Inspired by Tibetan theology and philosophy, the world in MANDAGON truly feels like limbo. Vibrant pixels make up the old homes and ruins you explore while the dark, atmospheric soundtrack fills your ears. Grasping the story is a little tough, but it's worth grappling with if you have some time to spend in this world.

You can download the game free on Steam for Mac or Windows.
