Exoids Shows Us A Post-Apocalyptic World Populated By Fighting Robotic Insects

Thank God it’s just an animation.

The unmistakable grind of a heavy-metal guitar kicks off the sci-fi short Exoids, from director Aristomenis Tsirbas, set in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles.

Soon, we’re introduced to an intelligent slug driving a car (naturally), who’s search for water brings him into a confrontation with a metallic robo-scorpion. A chase ensues involving an android heli-wasp with mini guns, then all kinds of crap hits the fan and a showdown kicks off. But our slug-hero, Gus Nitrous, ain’t goin’ out like that.

It’s fun, well-animated, visually compelling, and we’d love to see it play out in a whole series. This could also be a glimpse into our post-apocalyptic future, where the slugs survive the Great Galactic War between the robots and flying saucers and the cockroaches evolve into robotic tanks.
