Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom will finally have to face a hearing regarding his extradition to the US after losing a final attempt to have it deferred.

The internet mogul will appear in court on September 21, years after the dramatic raid of his mansion in New Zealand. Dotcom faces multiple charges related to his file-sharing website Megaupload, including copyright infringement, conspiracy, and money laundering

Dotcom had attempted to have the trial deferred, claiming he needed more time to seek experts from US lawyers to fight the extradition and that not allowing him to do so blocked "a proper defense."

However, a New Zealand's Court of Appeal yesterday rejected his arguments. It dismissed his appeal on the grounds that the issue has been managed in line with international extradition treaties, and that the crimes were alleged under New Zealand law, not US.

Dotcom tweeted leading up to the decision, saying, "Today we'll find out if I get a fair extradition hearing or if the New Zealand judiciary will transform itself into a US owned dancing bear." He later expressed his disappointment: "As expected… Dancing bear."
