Adrian Beltre Submits $300 Invoice to Garrett Richards for Three Broken Bats

Garrett Richards broke three of Adrian Beltre's bats yesterday, so the Rangers third baseman sent him an invoice for $300.

The Angels beat the Rangers 3-2 yesterday behind seven innings from Garrett Richards, who allowed only three hits and struck out five. He also broke three of Adrian Beltre's bats and Beltre doesn't just give those things away, so he sent Richards an invoice for $300 to cover his loss.

This wasn't just some silly note scribbled on a napkin, either. It was an actual invoice that Beltre obviously has just lying around for these kinds of situations. After filling it out and signing it, Beltre wrote "cash only, no checks" above his signature. The GIF above is from Beltre's last at-bat, where the final piece of lumber went to a farm upstate as Beltre grounded into an inning-ending double play.

Richards took it all in stride and sent a signed batting practice bat back to Beltre, adding a note that said he hoped it made them square. I'm sure the guy who freaks out whenever someone touches his head, and goes to the trouble of invoicing an opposing pitcher for three broken bats will be totally cool with a signed bat in lieu of $300 and at no point will he be adding Richards to a revenge list written in blood on a wall somewhere.
