London-based producers Richard X and Nathan Gregory Wilkins return as Cowboy Rhythmbox today to share "Soda Jerk," a sputtering new track off their forthcoming Mécanique Sauvage EP. The release's title translates to English as "Wild Mechanics"—the proceedings certainly attest to the description, building an unglued sense of ambiance around a feverish chug.

The duo explained their approach on the track to THUMP via email. "'Soda Jerk' is an effervescent cacophony of drums, apparitional voices, metallic synths and excessive harmoniser misuse—a hymn to overindulgence."

The A-Side to the group's first single, "We Got The Box," delivers more of the same delightfully wonky sensibility—it slows things down a bit though, letting an 808 bassline take up all the space it possibly can.

Mécanique Sauvage will be released October 28 on Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound imprint, which also put out each of the group's previous three releases. It will arrive on 12" and digital formats, and is available for pre-order.
