Burnley have banned a supporter from attending their matches indefinitely, after an incident of racial abuse during a pre-season friendly against Bradford on Saturday.

In a statement on the club's website, it has been confirmed that a 30-year-old man from Accrington has been questioned by club officials in relation to the incident. As a result, he has been banned from both home and away fixtures for an indeterminate period. The decision is subject to appeal.

The supporter in question was said to have aimed prolonged abuse at the opposition, and was subsequently ejected from the stadium. There was another man involved in the incident, but he left the ground voluntarily and will face no further action from the club.

The statement on Burnley's website asserts that "the club would like to reiterate that we have a zero tolerance approach to any such behaviour, and strongly condemn discrimination of any type."

West Yorkshire Police are still investigating the matter, and it is yet to be seen whether criminal charges will be brought. Meanwhile, Burnley striker Andre Gray has tweeted that the fans involved "still live in the stone ages."
