President Obama Welcomed Donald Trump to the White House

President Barack Obama met with America's new president-elect, Donald Trump, on Thursday to hash out the peaceful transition of power that will inevitably need to come January 20, Reuters reports.

The two have reportedly never hung out in person, and it's tricky to imagine what Thursday's meeting was like behind closed doors. After campaigning for Hillary Clinton, Obama shook hands with a man he's said many times is "unfit to serve as president" and who was a longtime crusader behind the movement that questioned the legitimacy of POTUS's birth certificate.

First Lady Michelle Obama also met privately with Trump's wife, Melania—the same woman who ripped off FLOTUS's speech from the Democratic National Convention in 2008.

Despite all the bad blood between them, Obama told the country Wednesday that the meeting would be business as usual.

"Eight years ago, President Bush and I had some pretty significant differences, but President Bush's team could not have been more professional or more gracious in making sure we had a smooth transition," Obama said in his address from the White House. "So I have instructed my team to follow the example that President Bush's team set."

You can watch the whole awkward affair above and imagine what the future will be like when Trump gets ahold of the POTUS Twitter account, along with the nuclear codes.

Hopefully Biden makes an appearance, so we can finally see that footrace.
