Kanye West just made U.K. chart history as his seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo, is the first to be certified gold exclusively through streams. According to The Official Chart Company, the album crossed its 100,000 album sales criteria with album-equivalent streams.

TLOP was initially released as an exclusive on JAY-Z's streaming platform TIDAL before being made available to competitors Apple Music and Spotify. West also added a creative twist by tweaking select songs after the album's release. In May of 2016, the album debuted at number 30 and has spent 47 weeks in the Top 100. It debuted at number 1 in the U.S where it became the first streaming-only album to go platinum.
