WATCH: New Trailer for 'Earthworks: Animal Collective'

In the first episode of VICELAND’s new series, 'Earthworks', Animal Collective goes deep into the wild for sonic inspiration.

Before catching the ears of sonically acute music fans everywhere, American band Animal Collective have been collecting field recordings to incorporate into their catchy but cacophonous whacked-out sound.

Now, in the first installment of VICELAND's new series Earthworks, Animal Collective rides a riverboat deep into the Brazilian rainforest, soaking in the sounds of the river and the people to feed the group's music. But they're also on a mission to hunt down some of the reasons for the region's rapid destruction, and to bring much needed awareness to the issue.

To band members Brian Weitz and Dave Portner (aka Geologist and Avey Tare) it's the the trip of a lifetime, but their guide points out just how the band may not yet be fully physically prepared to face the area's demanding climate.

Be sure to tune in to VICELAND tonight (June 2) at 11pm ET to catch the full Earthworks: Animal Collective episode.
