Philly Fans Watched Super Bowl in Minnesota Gay Bar Because It's Called 'Eagle'

"Yeah, that has to be a place where I can find some Eagles fans."
Bruce Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles fans who made the trip to Minneapolis for Super Bowl LII but didn't have a ticket to the game needed to find a place to watch. So many pounded the pavement looking for a good bar to settle into some birds and beers. And when they came across a bar called "Eagle," well that's just kismet.

However, in many major cities across the United States, Eagle, or The Eagle are traditionally gay leather bars. The first one opened in New York City a year after the Stonewall Riots. And so Eagles fans went in droves to Minneapolis's Eagle establishment, surprising everyone involved.

I mean, that is pretty sound logic. Add in that Philly is one of the major cities that does not have its own Eagle gay leather bar, and you can understand how something like this happens. It still sounds like everyone had a good time, as one patron live-tweeted the experience of watching the Super Bowl at a gay bar with a bunch of unwitting, and straight, Eagles fans:

And the last of the dispatch:

Buddy, you don't know the half of it.
