Zuckerberg fires back at Trump and liberals over Facebook criticism

If Mark Zuckerberg is planning to run for office, calling out Donald Trump is a surefire way to gain some public support.

Responding to Trump’s Tuesday tweet accusing Facebook of bias, Zuckerberg posted a 350-word defense Wednesday, noting he’s building a “community for everyone.”

“Trump says Facebook is against him. Liberals say we helped Trump. Both sides are upset about ideas and content they don’t like,” Zuckerberg said. “That’s what running a platform for all ideas looks like.”

The internet billionaire highlighted the important role Facebook played in the 2016 vote, including helping candidates spread their message, which he said was “1000x more than any problematic ads we’ve found.”

Facebook, along with Twitter and Google, have come under scrutiny in recent weeks over the role social media played in aiding Russian election interference.

Zuckerberg initially dismissed accusations that Facebook was used as a tool for Moscow’s meddling, but his company has since admitted it found at least 3,000 ads linked to “inauthentic” Russian accounts.

Speculation linking Zuckerberg with a run for office — possibly even the White House — peaked earlier this year after Facebook updated its proxy statement, a move that would allow the founder to campaign and keep his company.

He also found God and scheduled a cross-country tour of all 50 states.

Zuckerberg sought to quash these rumors by flatly denying he plans to run for office — another cast-iron tell that he’s planning to run for office.
