4,000 Strangers Are Eating McNuggets Together This Friday Thanks to a Viral Facebook Event

“I'm going to get some Chicken McNuggets if anyone wants to come get some. Will probably get some sweet 'n’ sour sauce to go along with it idk.”

The Internet's obsession with chicken nuggets is well documented. One guy's tweet about stealing frozen bags on his last day at Burger King made him a "Chicken King," before it was sadly revealed to be a social media hoax. Fast food chain Wendy's awarded another enthusiast free nuggets for a year after a Twitter post and "NuggsforCarter" hashtag was retweeted more than 18 million times. And that video of a guy eating his six piece box with a fork went viral.

Now, thanks to a Facebook event and one Australian chicken nugget fan, if you go down to McDonald's in Sydney tomorrow, you may be in for a big surprise. More precisely: 4,000 people eating chicken nuggets.

Corey Dunkin created an open event page back in August called "I'm going to go get some Chicken McNuggets," which is scheduled to take place tomorrow at a McDonald's restaurant on George Street. The event description simply reads: "I'm going to get some Chicken McNuggets if anyone wants to come get some. Will probably get some sweet 'n sour sauce to go along with it idk."

While only a handful of Dunkin's friends originally clicked "attending," last week the event gained traction and now more than 4,000 Facebook users say they'll turn up. A further 9,000 say they're "interested."

Dunkin contacted the branch to let them know to expect a few more customers than usual. McDonald's replied with the message: "We love that you love McNuggets and we get it, so we've reserved you and your friends a table on Friday night and will have a register just for McNuggets, so you can enjoy them as quickly as possible."

Dunkin told News.au.com that he wasn't sure how many people would actually turn up, but either way, he'd be enjoying some chicken nuggets come Friday night. He said: "I don't know what's actually going to happen on the night, there might be nobody there except me and a few mates, there might be heaps of people there who I don't know and it could get pretty nuts. The main thing is, I'm going to go and do what I set out to, which is get some chicken nuggets."

We'll take a ten-piece box with extra barbecue sauce.
