Dance Until You Die in this Surprisingly Happy Game

‘Dance Until We Die’ imagines your last few moments of life at a space rave.

Coming back right after a funeral for a relative who died way too young (39, to be exact), I did not expect to find much mirth in Dance Until We Die, a game about dancing at a space rave until you retire. But I was pleased to find a sort of soothing exuberance in Heather Robertson's game, where you basically guide a Zero G spaceship (or… spacesuit? It's not entirely clear) amidst a field of neon lights and blinking stars, all to Ke$ha's "Die Young."

The game lasts as long as the song does. And all you can do is dance. I suppose you could also just float, and not really touch the controls—that's a choice, too, and a valid one. If you have a few minutes to live, and you're in the middle of a space rave, you should make the best of it. Whatever you decide, you'll be dead soon.

Celebrate life? Dance among the neon wisps? Sing along to Ke$ha? Cry? Call your loved ones? Well, what would you do in a space rave?

You can download Dance Until We Die for free on the game's itch.io page.
