A Thousand Eminems Typing for a Thousand Years Will Write "Stan," Apparently

In the new video for "Walk on Water," Eminem tries to double down on the pain behind his process.

A week on from the release of his troubled and tepidly received ninth album, Revival, Eminem has released the video for its lead single, “Walk on Water.” For better or worse, the captures the tone of the song itself, with Eminem first working up the courage to rap into a mic, then delivering his lines to an empty theater. In one scene, his outfit changes second-by-second in an attempt to highlight a varied career. (See: “There was a time I had the world by the balls / Eating out my palm.”) There’s even a room full of tandem Eminems tapping away at typewriters to really get at the pain behind his process. Eminem’s infinite monkey theorem doesn’t get him to the Complete Works of William Shakespeare, but he wants you to know that he wrote “Stan.” He really wants you to know that.
