Nicki Minaj Probably Had a Better Monday Than You

She performed at the NBA Awards and received the key to her home borough of Queens.

Despite losing her seven-year grip on the Best Female Hip Hop Artist BET Award to Remy Ma on Sunday night, Nicki Minaj doesn't seem to be letting it bother her. On Monday night she appeared at the very sedate, inaugural annual NBA Awards to deliver a three-song medley of "Realize" (which featured an appearance from 2 Chainz), "No Frauds," and her recent Katy Perry collab "Swish Swish."

The performance had a distinct Roman Empire theme (no surprises there), and saw her take aim at Remy Ma a couple of times – case in point: "Your dude wrote an "Ether" record / But I broke Aretha record", referring to both her claim that Remy's husband Papoose wrote her "Shether" bars, and the fact that she herself recently broke Aretha Franklin's record for the most hits on the Billboard Hot 100).

To give Nicki's day even more shine, she was also awarded a Key to the City for her home borough of Queens, New York, where she was raised after moving there from Trinidad and Tobago aged five. On Twitter, she called it a "#MajorKeyAlert" and thanked borough president Melinda Katz for the honour.

If I were Nicki, that'd be a pretty good replacement for the BET award. Watch her NBA Awards performance below, and get mad that you don't have some guys dressed as Roman soldiers carrying you around on a chaise longue, to be honest:
