Barkley in Nashville: NBA Playoffs Suck, Wants to See Gator Eat JR's Ass

At the invitation of commissioner Gary Bettman, Charles Barkley was a multi-platform guest at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final in Nashville and touched on a number of subjects. Appearing on both NBC Sports and Canada's Sportsnet, Barkley talked about his love of the NHL, how exciting the playoffs have been, and directly contrasting them with the NBA's ongoing postseason slog. He also addressed how much he would like to see an alligator eat Jeremy Roenick's ass. The answer is "very much."

The night began with Barkley crashing a Wayne Gretzky press conference in which the TNT analyst, standing off to the side, interrupted to ask the Great One who is favorite black athlete was. Without missing a beat, Gretzky responded with his Edmonton teammate Grant Fuhr, who he considers the greatest all-time goaltender.

Other choice moments include Barkley openly criticizing the the NBA playoffs and brushing off any concern for his professional well-being because he said TNT can't fire him—at least without paying him in full. Talking to Mike Milbury, Barkley said "I'm just glad to be here because the NBA Playoffs have not been great, but the Stanley Cup Playoffs have been amazing."

Then the discussion turned to his buddy Roenick, who famously and very intelligently chased an alligator off a golf course by diving at its tail. They played the clip for Barkley and the Round Mound of Rebound commented thusly: "I'm one of those people, I wanna see the alligator eat his ass one time…I would have loved to see the alligator eat J.R., that would've been much better television."

We'll leave it to you the reader to decide whether or not Chuck has a point but, at the very least, hearing "eat his ass" on NBC Sports isn't a bad alternative.
