Fordham Throws 29-Yard Touchdown On Fake Punt Against Army

Fordham scores 29-yard touchdown on Army with a fake punt.

Today is Cupcake Day in college football, so naturally Patriot League powerhouse Fordham has Army on the schedule. Fordham jumped out to an early 10-0 lead thanks to a fake punt turned Hail Mary-esque touchdown. Looking at a fourth-and-16 from the Army 29, the Rams decided to bring the punt unit on, and even though Army had it covered well, they were unable to stop it. Ram's punter Joseph Pavlik's heave was tipped in the end zone and running back Marc DeSisto caught the deflection for the touchdown.

It's the second straight week Army failed to stop a similar play. Last week, Western Kentucky converted on a more traditional Hail Mary at the end of the first half and the same thing happened: the ball was initially tipped in the end zone, but the offense was able to grab the deflection.

Fordham, an FCS team, leads Army 10-7 as the first half winds down.
