Hear Benny Ill's Deep Garage Remix of Dusky's New Single, "9T8"

Hot London duo gets a remix from the Horsepower Productions OG.

One can not recount dubstep's origin story without mentioning Horsepower Productions—the rotating cast of DJs and producers known for their devastatingly sparse, shadowy garage records. Before the movement had even coalesced under the dubstep name, there was an original crew of early pioneers—Horsepower, Oris Jay, Kode 9, El-B, and others—unloading nose-hair-tickling basslines at a handful of tiny London nightclubs.

Roughly a decade before dubstep became came to represent formulaic bass drops and tweens in annoying T-shirts, there was Benny Ill, a founding member of Horsepower Productions, pressing tiny batches of dubplate records for basement parties and shooting the shit around the record store. Well it's 2014 and Benny's still doing his thing.

Check the swingin' remix for the hot-as-wasabi London duo Dusky, channeling a little bit of the dark, hypnotic minimalism of London at turn of the 21st century.
