Michigan Family Says They Are Traumatized After Allegedly Seeing Porn at Burger King

“Family-friendly dining experiences [are] what has defined our brand for more than 50 successful years,” Burger King brags on its website. But one traumatized family would probably question its definition of “family-friendly,” after they allegedly saw a few minutes of softcore porn on a Michigan Burger King location’s in-store TV.

Richard Avery said that he and his seven- and eight-year-old stepsons stopped in to the Burger King in Southgate, Michigan on Sunday, and they almost immediately noticed some questionable content on the television. "My oldest son said to my youngest son, 'Don't look up at the TV,'" Avery told ClickOnDetroit. "I look up at the TV and this guy was fondling this woman's breast. The man was thrusting on a woman. That's definitely not something you see at a Burger King any day."

Avery described the content as a “scripted pornographic film,” and said that he was appalled that his children were exposed to it. He was also equally appalled that the employees weren’t exactly in a hurry to change the channel, so he turned the television off himself.

The boy’s mother (whose identity was kept anonymous by local news station WXYZ) said that other customers were aware of the programming—and that they were kind of into it. “There was another couple in there and the guy was watching it and his wife yelled at him ‘You’re a nasty horndog,’” she told the station. “I told my son to erase it from his memory and, when we go to therapy, we’ll discuss it further.”

She was later identified as Brandi Bossman by The News Herald. In a Facebook post, she allegedly wrote that her son would “have to live with this for the rest of his life” and that the incident would “make him go through therapy longer.”

The family has filed a police report and is reportedly considering legal action against Burger King. Bossman said that one of the boys had ADHD and autism, while Avery characterized it as ADHD and “a photographic memory.” Regardless, they are concerned with how viewing the images will affect the boys. “"I feel like this will torment my eldest son," Avery said. "Someone has to pay."

“We value and encourage a culture of care and respect for all Guests,” a Burger King spokesperson told MUNCHIES in a statement. “This behavior does not reflect our brand values or the values of the franchisee who independently owns and operates this restaurant. The franchisee is investigating this incident thoroughly.”

This is far from the sexiest (or unsexiest) incident that has ever taken place in a Burger King. In November, Louisiana couple Elizabeth and Rex Jernigan were arrested after uploading videos of themselves having sex in a variety of public places, including a library, a Wal-Mart, and, yes, a Burger King. The Jernigans posted the videos to their PornHub page and, unsurprisingly, Pornhub has a wide variety of amateur videos filmed in various Burger Kings.

PornHub also has a series of SFW videos by a man named Joey who sits in his car eating and reviewing some of Burger King’s menu items. “This is really good, Burger King,” he says, halfway through the Bacon Cheddar Chicken Sandwich. “Like, whaaat? Usually Burger King has dropped the ball, but I kind of like this.”

Family-friendly dining experiences, indeed.
