Locked and Loaded in the Tropics (Trailer)

Coming soon: VICE News travels to Puerto Rico, an island with the world’s highest murder rate by firearm, to find out why the NRA just established their 51st chapter on the island.

Puerto Rico has the world's highest overall percentage of homicides by firearm, with an estimated more than 90 percent of murders caused by guns. This statistic hasn't stopped the NRA from setting up shop, establishing their 51st chapter in the tropical US territory.

Puerto Rico's sky-high murder rates prevail, despite its extremely strict gun laws, which have only encouraged the association to fight harder for their constitutional rights and arm the island with more and more guns. In 2014, gun permit applications doubled while possession of guns tripled, and licenses for shooting ranges quadrupled from the previous year.
