Disorienting, Ghostly Images Of Dense Urban Landscapes

Design team Atelier Olschinsky roll out another series of dizzying manipulated photographs.

We’ve previously seen what the Austrian design team Atelier Olschinsky (Peter Olschinsky and Verena Weiss) do with imagery of urban environments, and creating cubist, Transformer-like portraits is only the tip of the iceberg.

For their newest work, GHOST CITIES, the pair created a series of images that make urban settings seem strangely translucent. Using photographs of what appears to be Tokyo, with vertical fluorescent signs and an all-encompassing array of light, they play with perspective, so that when you’re staring at the image it becomes hard to tell where you’re standing, whether you’re standing at all, or if you are perhaps upside down.

You can find more of Atelier Olschinsky's artwork in The Gallery. Join now for the chance to be featured on our blog, website, and at our events.
