Someone Is Tweeting From Stuart Scott's Account

Stuart Scott is tweeting again, but obviously it's not Stuart Scott tweeting—we hope.

Stuart Scott was very active on social media up until he passed away from cancer on Jan. 4. He often tweeted about the challenges he faced while fighting the vicious disease, and he often encouraged fans to remain positive despite the obvious tragic circumstances. But then Scott died, and his Twitter account was silenced. Scott's legacy and historic career at ESPN will not soon—or ever—be forgotten by his fans, many of whom miss the sense of humor spin he gave sports highlights. An entire generation of sports fans grew up imitating Scott's many catchphrases. Understandably, everyone was saddened to know they would never hear from Scott again.

But curiously, his Twitter account starting posting messages again on June 8th.

Then today, @StuartScott's account tweeted this:

DO what makes U happy - Fight to keep YOUR NORMAL - kids, fam, love, golf, travel, TV, movies, meditate, LAUGH, pray https://t.co/1QMSUKgScD

Scott's many followers have been a bit puzzled by these new posts. Although Facebook's Legacy setting allows friends and family members of the deceased to maintain a page as a sort of memorial, Twitter accounts usually remain inactive after someone's passing. It's hard enough—if not impossible—to click the unfollow button after someone passes, but to have them reappear without warning is emotionally challenging and possibly even creepy. Sadly, we all know Stuart Scott is not tweeting anymore, but who is? Not that it matters, really, but it's curious that they've chosen this week to re-activate the account.
