Viral Style: Smart Bracelets, More Smart Bracelets, And Fashionable LEGOs

Viral Style #47 brings you the future of fashion, both practical and fantastical...

SELFIE-SNAPPING HOMEWARE OF THE WEEK

We recently wrote about new developments in selfie-themed accessories—and this week, it's your home that's getting kitted out to help you take your Instagram masterpieces. Digital agency iStrategy have developed a smart mirror called—what else?—SELFIE, or Self Enhancing Live Feed Imagine Engine. Powered by a Mac mini computer, the mirror utilises Open CV facial recognition software to detect when someone is smiling, before flashing built-in LEDs and snapping a picture—it can even Tweet the image for you. No hands, no buttons, no effort. Next wave narcissism just got even easier.

TRICKED-OUT ACCESSORY OF THE WEEK

LA-based start-up Rufus Labs has created a new heavyweight smart watch accessory, the Rufus Cuff, that makes your average bracelet look beyond antiquated. Its versatile design allows the cuff to connect to both iPhone and Android devices, and it also comes equipped with a working web browser, water-resistant capabilities and a three-inch screen. Sure, it's the size of a small house (Rufus Labs even describe it as "wrist real estate"), but you can't argue with those features.

ULTRA HIGH-TECH JEWELLERY OF THE WEEK

If Rufus Cuff's super-chunky design isn't for you, check out the WonderRing for a more streamlined wearable tech experience. A new prototype launching on crowdSPRING, its developers have said the ring will be able to control electronic devices like TVs and audio, as well as tracking your sport performance, heart rate and temperature. Loving the different proposed designs, including moulded chrome and color-blocked curves.

TOY WARDROBE UPDATE OF THE WEEK

Here's one to get your Tumblr followers going—the LEGO man has had a slick new style makeover, courtesy of Malaysian artist Adly Syairi Ramly. Having previously focused his attentions on "legolizing" various bands and musicians, Ramly's latest Lego creations take on more of a fashion flavor, inspired by 20 different streetwear brands and shot with a smartphone. The iconic miniature figure gets kitted out in garms by the likes of Supreme, Opening Ceremony and Stussy, complete with #musthave accessories like smartphones and snapback caps. Never thought I'd see the day when I'd be jealous of a toy's wardrobe…
