Former RHCP guitarist John Frusciante announced the second album from his Trickfinger project today, following its self-titled debut in 2015. Like the last LP, Trickfinger II will arrive on Los Angeles imprint Acid Test, which is dedicated to electronic music pushing the limits of the Roland TB-303.

Frusciante recorded each of its tracks in one take using vintage hardware gear, as was the same with its predecessor. The two records draw from the same 2007 sessions—for context, the guitarist was still a member of RHCP at this point, and they had just released the smash arena rock hit Stadium Arcadium the year before.

The American musician explained why he was drawn to make analog acid house at the time in an interview with THUMP last year. "A lot of my heroes in electronic music, like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher—that was their starting point, so I figured if I'm going to spend the rest of my life being a composer in the modern sense, then I needed to learn how to start doing that," he said.

The new album will be released on September 8 on vinyl, CD, and digital formats.

Trickfinger II tracklist: 1. Shift Sync
