Slick rivulets of oily dark-hued paint drips across a spinning record as light reflects off the vinyl surface, creating the illusion of a psychedelic black-and-white pattern. The pop art effect is mirrored by the clever CGI work of director Davy Evans, known for his techie eye candy. Evans, along with motion designer Elias Freiberger, director of photography, Jonathan Nicol, and editor, Edward Thomas Cook created a visually enthralling music video for the song "Old Soul" from the British hip-hop artist, XamVolo. The swirl of colors over the spinning record and poured with sleek, goopy pressure over an old-school microphone creates a sensual mood. Evans uses a range of fluids, including paint and honey, to create the effect. Using two different cameras, Evans shot the effects of "Old Soul" in 4K.
