Unbeknownst to them, the fish swimming through a Japanese aquarium are part of a digital garden projected into their tanks. In Flowers and Fish, illuminated "floating" flowers burst into a cloud of petals when the swimmers glide through, creating a spectacle of randomly-generated flora. "The art that is created in one moment will disappear in the next, never to be seen again," writes teamLab, the Japanese digital studio behind projection-mapped paddy fields, hanging vine forests, and more recently, Flowers and Fish. Their installations often rely on interaction from visitors, either through apps or hands-on, but the Enoshima Aquarium’s Big Sagami Bay Tank's vibrant ecosystem takes the spotlight this time.Flowers and Fish will be on display at Enoshima Aquarium’s Big Sagami Bay Tank from July 18 through December 25, 2015.
