[Summer Break of the Future] Switzerland's Dream Water Park

Hopefully in the future, all pools will look more like this.

Today’s waterparks are overcrowded, all the food is fried (and not in a good way), and…oh is that a used Band-Aid floating in the water?

The waterpark of the future, however, is idyllic. A collaboration between NAU Architecture and Drexler Guinand Jauslin Architects, The Baths of Geronde are a lakeside Shangri-La with lap pools, waterslide, access to lake swimming and sublime views.

In the future, more architectural structures will be conducive to their pre-existing environments. The renovation of the Baths aims to restore our relationship with nature by reframing the surrounding nature through futuristic and efficient architecture. Emerging terrace levels allow for both the harmonious integration of the new spatial program and the use of the roof promenade as a trail around the lake during the off-season. The careful restoration of this modernist facility enhances its impact: limited to concrete, aluminum and wood, its material palette serves as a contemporary counterpart to its historical features. The pioneering spirit of modernist sport architecture informs this sustainable expansion and returns the picturesque location of Géronde to the foreground.
