VICE Sports World News Roundup: August 24

Start your day with VICE Sports. Here's our morning roundup of the sports news from around the world.

Good morning, America. Welcome to the VICE Sports World News Roundup. Be sure to stop by daily for your morning headlines.

It's the 24th of August, 2015, and Sepp Blatter is still president of FIFA.

Let's start with motorsports. Lewis Hamilton won the Belgian Grand Prix. He beat his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who is also second to Hamilton in the Driver's Championship.

Sad news out of Indycar. Sage Karam hit the wall in the 179th lap of a 200-lap event at the Pocono Raceway. As his car broke apart, Justin Wilson came through at high speed, and a piece of the wreckage from Karam's car appeared to hit Wilson in the head. Wilson is now in a coma.

Cyclist Vincenzo Nibali has been expelled from the Vuelta Espana. As a team car passed the peloton, the Italian grabbed onto the car and accelerated rapidly away from the pack. It was a good effort, though! In the video he's hidden behind the car, so you can't make out exactly what's happening. One second he's there, the next he's not.

The World Athletics Championships is underway in China. Usain Bolt already won the 100m final. He beat Justin Gatlin by the thinnest of margins.

Rugby fullback Richie Mathers was suspended for six months after he was found to have aided other people in betting on his own matches by giving them inside info. Mathers says he's innocent:

Roberto Soldado scored on his debut for Villarreal. The striker wasn't exactly prolific while with Tottenham, and the Mirror couldn't help but take the piss, as they say over there.

Here's Serena Williams making swift work of Simona Halep in the final of the Western and Southern Open, where the American won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(5). In the men's draw, Roger Federer beat Novak Djokavic 7-6(1), 6-3.
