Dave Harrington announced today that the New York musician will release his debut full length, Become Alive on April 15 as the Dave Harrington Group. Harrington has been a mainstay in the New York scene for a number of years, towing the line between jazz, electronic, and avant-garde experimentalism.

Harrington had his breakthrough in 2013 when he teamed up with fellow forward-thinking electronic innovator Nicolas Jaar, for their acclaimed album Psychic as Darkside, blending jazzy motifs and instrumentation with a spaced-out and downtempo electronic backdrop. Become Alive also follows Harrington's 2014 debut EP on on Nicolas Jaar's Other People imprint, Before This There Was One Heart But A Thousand Thoughts, a murky and abstract blend of acoustic and electronic ambient excursions.

Harrington described Become Alive as a product of free improvisation with experimental recording and sampling techniques in a press statement. The album was recorded with a fluid roster of a dozen of Harrington's closest friends and collaborators, taking hours of recorded improvisations, and later editing, dubbing, and mixing the material into a flowing composition.About the album, Harrington said in the statement: "It's all just about making improvisational music in a way that is personal and true. That was the spirit of making this record… Bringing people together and playing, improvising, being present."
