MIXED BY Teen Daze

Chillwave's Dr. Feelgood takes you on a utopian journey through the cosmos.
Each week, we present an exclusive set where the only boundaries are impeccable taste and skill. This week: Teen Daze

I first discovered Teen Daze's stuff about a year ago while on a late night Spotify binge and since then have constantly found myself lost and even slightly hypnotized by his warm, melodic creations that span the spectrum between dream-pop, ambient, shoegaze, and chill-wave. I could go on and on hitting you with bloggy and hipsterfied subgenres but all you need to know is  that Vancouver-based Jamison (we only know his first name) reps all those warm feelings in life—the smell of fall air, the sun rising over Miami Beach, that first hit of a joint under the aurora borealis—that we wish we could place in a jar in and crack open when we want to slip away into the cosmos.

You won't hear any of this music pumping the main stage of a festival while CO2 cannons go off or anywhere close to the Beatport Top 10, but if you want to get straight-up utopian join me here. Plus, Teen Daze is an intellectual of the highest order—take his second EP,  A Silent Planet, whichwas inspired by Jamison's time reading C.S Lewis during a seven week stay in the Swiss Alps in which he was studying philosophy, aiight? For the latest installment of MIXED BY, Teen Daze turns up the energy a bit and finds the perfect marriage of his signature sound with some more dancefloor-attuned tracks by Daft Punk, Todd Terje, Jon Hopkins and other purveyors of the feel-good. The result? A warm, groovy journey that will surely brighten your day. So lock in and get lost in the daaaaze, man.
