In this month's strange sewage explosion news, a disgruntled farmer in Vermont has been charged for dousing a border patrol officer's car in liquid manure after going on a rant about illegal immigration, the Associated Press reports.

According to the Lake Champlain Islander, border patrol officer Robert Rocheleau had parked his car during a standard patrol on August 3 when Mark Johnson pulled up beside him in a tractor next to his massive manure spreader. Johnson allegedly hopped down from the vehicle to chat with Rocheleau, unloading an angry tirade about how "the illegals" working on farms in the area had robbed him of his livelihood. According to Rocheleau, Johnson told him he knew where to find a few immigrant workers and asked the officer to track them down.

When Rocheleau refused—explaining that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), not Border Patrol, is responsible for immigration inside the US—Johnson allegedly got pretty pissed, local ABC affiliate KETV reports. He told the officer he'd called ICE so many times they'd threatened to charge him with harassment if he phoned again, the Islander reports. That's when he allegedly climbed back into the tractor, turned on the manure spreader, and sent "a wave of manure" cascading toward the patrol vehicle, according to the affidavit.

The first shot apparently missed the car, and though it took Johnson a few more tries, he eventually blasted the side of the car with a whole mess of cow dung, Rocheleau said. The officer drove his cruiser to a nearby street, took some gnarly photos of the damage, and reported Johnson to the local sheriff.

On Thursday, Johnson went to court and pled not guilty to charges of disorderly conduct and simple assault of a law enforcement officer with fluids—which is somehow a real crime people commit. According to the AP, the farmer claimed he didn't know the officer's car was nearby when he inadvertently sprayed it with shit.
