Seagull Hit During Cricket Match Makes Heroic Comeback

This seagull was hit during a cricket match and left for dead, but then it came back to face its fears in triumph.

Seagulls are apparently a well-known obstacle during cricket matches in Australia and this one looked to have met the same fate as the bird who dared fly in front of a Randy Johnson fastball. However, this story has a happier ending than Randy Johnson's bird, and it's downright triumphant.

The bird was left in a heap on the grass during a match in the KFC T20 Big Bash League--the announcers are great here, "Ooh…trouble,"--and one of the fielders had to scoop it up and take it out of the field of play. It was sad, but the show must go on. At a certain point, though, the crowd started roaring. The bird was alive and had woken up! It tentatively watched from behind the boundary, but it was decidedly alive. Then a ball was hit near him and he took off. Not out of fear, though, it went right for the ball. It ain't about how hard you get hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. This seagull kept moving forward and flew right back to the same spot where it almost met its maker. Good for you, seagull.
