Nick Chubb Suffers Ghastly Leg Injury Against Tennessee

This does not look good for Nick Chubb.

Early in the first quarter against Tennessee, Georgia running back Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome-looking injury along the sideline at the end of a run. He was bouncing off defenders and as he tried to spin off a tackle at his legs and plant his foot for some extra yardage, he overstepped and his leg hyperextended, bending all the way in the wrong direction.

It's pretty tough to watch, and Chubb was really upset on the sideline as the training staff checked him out. He was on the sideline for a good bit, getting his leg wrapped in ice, but he was eventually carted back to the locker room. It was just last November that Georgia running back Todd Gurley, now with the St. Louis Rams, suffered a season-ending ACL tear.

Gary Danielson, remarking after he saw the injury, said "these players lay their careers out on the line every play." The only thing I would add to that is "while not getting paid a dime."

Update: The pain appeared to overwhelm Chubb as he was on the sideline and caused him to pass out while waiting for the cart to the locker room.

Chubb collapsed after leaving training table on way to cart and regained consciousness once on cart. Was taken to locker room.
