Ignorance is no defence, especially in the cruel, cruel world of pre-fight sledging.

NRL star turned boxer, Paul Gallen, has been brutally sounded out by his next opponent, Ryan Carr-Ketu ahead of their fight tonight.

After offering the 34 year old Ketu the chance to go double or nothing on the prize purse should Ketu make good on his promise to knock Gallen out, the heavyweight let rip with this at the weigh in:

"I've been put on the spot here a little bit…Obviously it (the offer) would be a bit of a gamble for me and he's gambled with his NRL career taking the peptides," Carr-Ketu said in turning down Gallen's wager.

He went on to say he could not afford to gamble with money his family was relying on. Gallen called him a "soft cunt" in response.

Previously Ketu, whose record is 2-0, had described Gallen's beloved Cronulla Shire as "a bit of a bogan suburb" and Gallen as "head bogan." He also complained Gallen's camp had failed to pay him at the agreed upon time and left him stranded at the airport after agreeing to provide him with transportation.

Gallen, who is 6-0 and fresh off a victory against NRL star and boxing debutant Junior Paulo two weeks ago, wore the peptides jab like a pro.

"Unfortunately that's what we're going to have to endure for most of our lives," Gallen said.

"We know the story, it was a club issue but what can I say? What can I do? We're going to have to cop that off people with small minds."
