We are still a year and a half away from seeing Rian Johnson's new Star Wars movie, but that doesn't mean people aren't buzzing about it already. Over the weekend, Johnson sat down with a few Star Wars actors and some heavyhitters from Lucasfilm at the Star Wars Celebration conference in London to tease Episode VIII.

John Boyega, who will be reprising his role as Finn in the new movie, said that working with Johnson has been "so much fun" and that the director brought a "new energy" to the set.

"Rian is awesome," Boyega said, according to Variety. "He is doing an indie movie within a studio franchise."

Johnson told the audience that he screened old WWII movies for the Episode VIII cast and crew to establish the tone he wanted to emulate—namechecking the 1949 movie Twelve O'Clock High and The Bridge on the River Kwai, among other classics.

Johnson also said that the next movie picks up "right where the last one left off," presumably meaning that it will open with Rey on the isolated island where Luke Skywalker has been hiding.

Episode VIII won't open in theaters until December 2017, but this year will mark the debut of the first of a seemingly endless string of Star Wars companion movies, Rogue One, so don't worry about waiting for your Star Wars fix.
