This Incredible 4K Video of the Sun Took NASA 300 Hours to Make

Whoa.

The latest video to come out of NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is the most detailed yet, and it's completely mesmerizing.

Launched in 2010, the SDO monitors the Sun 24/7 to better understand how it affects our Earth. To highlight the different temperatures of solar materials, SDO captures footage of the sun in 10 different wavelengths. These sets of wavelengths have been compiled into a video released this week.

The 30-minute film features a soundtrack from German composer Lars Leonhard titled 'Deep Venture,' and, as NASA puts it "presents the nuclear fire of our life-giving star in intimate detail, offering new perspective into our own relationships with grand forces of the solar system." So sit back and enjoy the most detailed video yet of the giant ball of energy at the center of our solar system.
