ANOHNI today shared a new collaboration with indie veterans CocoRosie in "Smoke 'em Out," a protest song about President-elect Trump. The sung-rapped lyrics are written in a vignette-heavy, poetic style, but the message still comes through clearly, particularly in the chorus: "Burning down the house / Smoke em out smoke em out the dead girl shouts."

In a statement shared through SoundCloud, CocoRosie members Bianca and Sierra Casady gave some backstory for the track. "Today, we share a new song to inspire the weary-disappointed hearts of so many crestfallen citizens," they said. "We just started working on a new album, but 'Smoke 'em Out' begged to be turned loose on the world now, as a means of participation during these turbulent yet invigorating times."

"Joined on guest vocals by our fellow Future Feminist ANOHNI, 'Smoke 'em Out' welcomes the new character who will be occupying the White House with a mob of women and children armed with forks and knives. In the wake of this un-natural disaster, we feel a call to rise, shout, and burn the house down."

It was announced this weekend that ANOHNI has been nominated for Best British Female Artist at the 2017 BRIT Awards. Her 2016 LP Hopelessness was THUMP's favorite album of the year.
